Bandipur City Tourism is a part of western Nepal. At the eastern part of the town is the pagoda-roofed Bindabasini temple which huses goddess Durga, Bandipur's guadian deity.
The rich wooden carvings and detailed brass-work that adorn the temple are replicas of those found in the many old pagoda structures of the Kathmandu Valley.
The other important temples and shrines in the vicinity include the Mahalaxmi temple with its exquisite woodwork and the Khadga Devi temple which comes alive once a year during the Dasain festival.
Nepali rulers' early patronage of Buddhism largely gave way to Hinduism, reflecting the increased influence of India, around the 12th century.
Bandipur Nepal Travel Tour - Though the successive dynasties of the Gopalas, the Kiratis, and the Licchavis expanded their rule, it was not until the reign of the Malla kings from 1200–1769 that Nepal assumed the approximate dimensions of the modern state.
King Gyanendra dismissed the government in October 2002, calling it corrupt and ineffective. He declared a state of emergency in November and ordered the army to crack down on the Maoist guerrillas. The rebels intensified their campaign, and the government responded with equal intensity, killing hundreds of Maoists, the largest toll since the insurgency began in 1996.
In Aug. 2003, the Maoist rebels withdrew from peace talks with the government and ended a cease-fire that had been signed in Jan. 2003. The following August, the rebels blockaded Kathmandu for a week, cutting off shipments of food and fuel to the capital.
For the tourist who comes to watch the larger mammals in their natural surroundings, Bandipur is a paradise from April to October.

It is situated on a ridgetop south of Dumre which lies 135 km out on the Kathmandu -Pokhara highway.

While the other trading posts of the Nepali hills have modernised, Bandipur retains its age old cultural attributes.
